DOLORES MARY MCDERMOTT

September 8, 1926 - January 4, 2022

Dolores was born in Chicago, Illinois. She married her husband and soulmate Francis Mcdermott on February 15, 1947 and together they raised 8 children while enjoying 65 years of marriage until his death in 2012.

She was employed by the Bakersfield City School District for 18 years. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. In her final years, she was blessed to have the love and companionship of her caregiver, her son William McDermott, who lovingly always claimed he was the lucky one, as he was able to take care of his mother.

She leaves behind her sons Thomas (Vicky), Brian (Debbie), John and William all of Bakersfield and Robert (Debbie) of Jalisco, Mexico, daughters Kathleen Negre (Louis) and Jeanette of Bakersfield and Patricia Strepy (Robert) of Trinidad, CA and numerous grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday, January 19th at Christ the King Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Dedication of the grave will be following the mass at Bakersfield National Cemetery.
