DENISE (DENI) DARCEY WEST

January 18, 1960 - November 15, 2021

Denise (Deni) Darcey West passed away on November 15, 2021 at the age of 61. Deni was born to Richard and Myrna Weringer on January 18, 1960 in Bakersfield, California. Deni grew up in the little town of Woody, enjoying a simple country life and attending the one room schoolhouse in that closeknit community. In the mid-1970's, she and her parents relocated to Bakersfield, where she graduated from Highland High School in 1978.

Deni became a paramedic with Hall Ambulance and worked as a telemetry technician at Mercy Hospital. While at Hall Ambulance, she met and married the love of her life, Joe West, of a wondrous 31 years. The two worked and raised their children in Bakersfield.

Deni had a creative mind, spending time crafting and sewing creations with her daughters. They had created and ran an online business together, attended many Artisan Crafting and Anime/Comic conventions. These activities, as well as her daughters, kept Deni young at heart.

Deni was a caring and sensitive soul with a profound love of animals, particularly her cats. She loved being silly and goofing around with her family, dancing and singing around the house while baking, cooking, and decorating for the holidays.

Deni was preceded in death by her mother, Myrna Weringer and her father Richard (Dick) Weringer; brothers Joey Weringer and Tom Calahan; and sister Teri Haberfelde.

Deni is survived by her husband, Joe West; daughters Niccole, Megan, and Natalie; her brother Tod Weringer, his wife Marilyn, and their children. She is also survived by son-in-law Danny Bennet and grandchild Kanilo, as well as her numerous four-legged fur-babies (her cats).

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. We love you, momma! Until we meet again.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2021 at Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara Chapel, 1100 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93301.
