It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josephine L. Herring Triplett on September 4, 2021. She is now resting peacefully with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Josephine's heart and compassion for others transcended the average person's expectations of generosity. Her loving and kind spirit was embraced throughout the Bakersfield College community throughout her 33 years of employment. After retiring in 2003, her dedication to teaching and motivating students to pursue excellence was recognized, and the “Josephine Triplett Early Childhood Education Scholarship” was established.

Josephine was very active in the community and often recognized by numerous organizations for her volunteerism and contributions. Her extraordinary and quiet way with children will always be remembered, along with her ability to motivate others to value education, community activism, and embrace one's heritage.

Ms. Josephine, as known by many in the community, will truly be missed by her family, community, colleagues, and a host of friends. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and a member of Cain Memorial A.M.E. Church for over 65 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Gemelia Herring, son Bobby Triplett Jr., 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Josephine is survived by her sister Ernestine Herring-Tomlin, her daughter Leah Green, 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, host of cousins and friends.

Viewing will be held at Rucker's Mortuary, Thursday, September 23rd from 4pm to 7pm. Services will be Friday, September 24th at 12pm at Cain Memorial A.M.E. Graveside to follow at Hillcrest Memorial.
