BPD searching for potential suspect in sexual battery case

The Bakersfield Police Department asks the community’s help to locate a suspect responsible for a potential sexual battery at 10:45 a.m. July 20 in the 1300 block of Chester Avenue.

He is described as a white man in his 20s and is around 5 foot 7 inches. The suspect has a thin build and brown hair, police said. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded shirt, gray shorts and white sneakers that looked dirty, according to BPD’s news release.

Dignity Health asks for the community’s help to identify a Hispanic man found unresponsive in a restroom at Beale Park in Bakersfield.

The man was found at 7:30 a.m. July 17 and was brought to a local hospital. He had no documentation on him.

He is around 30 years old, 6 feet and weighs 249 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. There are also many tattoos on his left hand.

The Bakersfield Police Department conducted a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint Tuesday and arrested three people on suspicion of DUI and cited 20 for driving while unlicensed.

The checkpoint was in the 300 block of East Truxtun Avenue between 6 and 11:45 p.m.

Another 20 drivers were cited for driving with a suspended license. A total of 43 vehicles were seized as result of the checkpoint, of which 37 were impounded and six were released to licensed drivers, according to BPD’s news release.

BPD screened 672 vehicles and detained 12 people to evaluate their sobriety level.
